Dysthymic Disorder Awareness
Dysthymic Disorder affects 3 to 6 percent of the population--that is more than bipolar and schizophrenia combined! Yet....most people have never heard of dysthymia before. And many people are living with it, unknowingly, perhaps for their entire life. Dysthymia, also known as "neurotic depression" is often misdiagnosed and/or not diagnosed at all. And 75 percent of dysthymia sufferers have another disorder as well, like OCD, ADHD, panic disorder, phobias or alcoholism. Isn't about time more people knew about the symptoms of Dysthymia? It is treatable, with the proper medication, and can relieve many chronic symptoms such as anger, anxiety, exaggerating events and poor concentration.
